IUE Faculty of Arts and Sciences Holds 2026–2027 Academic Board Meeting

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Izmir University of Economics convened for the Academic Board Meeting on September 18, 2026, ahead of the 2026–2027 academic year.

At the opening of the meeting, Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu, Founding Dean of our Faculty, delivered a commemorative speech in memory of Prof. Dr. Canan Başar Eroğlu, our esteemed faculty member from the Department of Psychology who passed away this past May. Following the tribute, the meeting continued with a presentation by our Deputy Dean, Prof. Dr. Gözde Yazgı Tütüncü.

The presentation provided an overview of the current academic staff structure and student profile, alongside welcoming newly joined faculty members, congratulating recent academic promotions, and introducing the new student representatives. Scientific research and project initiatives were central to the agenda. While ongoing research, newly launched projects, and scientific events organized within the faculty were evaluated, it was emphasized that academic and research endeavors will continue through interdisciplinary meetings, workshops, symposiums, and summits.

The meeting also addressed graduate employability and the faculty’s internationalization efforts. Current data regarding alumni career trajectories were shared, alongside an overview of student mobility and ongoing Erasmus partnerships with European universities. Furthermore, it was announced that the faculty's opening lecture for the new academic year will be delivered by our Physics Department faculty member, Prof. Dr. Uğur Tırnaklı, on October 9, 2026*. Following the Academic Board Meeting, faculty and departmental group photos were taken. The faculty members then gathered for lunch at 12:30, warmly welcoming the new academic term together.
