The only professor selected from Turkey
Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Science, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), one of the leading names in the field of mathematics and statistics in Turkey, has been invited to the international symposium held by the Greek Statistical Institute for its 40th anniversary of establishment. Prof. Dr. Bayramoglu, who developed world-renowned concepts in the field of probability theory and mathematical statistics, and whose articles are published in more than 30 countries, was the only person selected to the symposium from Turkey.
The symposium, which was held online this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak, was held in memory of the famous scientist Prof. Dr. Theophilos Cacoullos, the founder of the institute in Greece. Thousands of people watched the three-day symposium, in which more than 30 scientists from different countries such as the United States of America, Italy, Germany, England, Belgium, Spain and Canada participated as speakers. Prof. Dr. Bayramoğlu delivered a speech on the application of new probability theories, which are also used in different disciplines, and his studies on this subject.
A VERY SPECIAL FEELING
Stating that he has been an invited speaker in many international conferences before, Prof. Dr. Bayramoğlu said that being the only person invited to the symposium in Greece from Turkey made him very proud. Prof. Dr. Bayramoğlu said, “Being among the world-renowned, proven scientists is a very special feeling. I had the opportunity to represent my country and university. Prof. Dr. Udo Kamps, one of the leading names in the world in the field of probability and statistics, working at Aachen University in Germany, sent me a congratulations message after my speech. My goal is to continue to contribute to the world of science with my studies in probability theory and mathematical statistics. This is what will make me happy the most.”
CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN HIS HONOR
Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu, Dean of IUE Faculty of Arts and Science, turned 60 two years ago and an international conference was held in Istanbul in his honor. Nearly 50 scientists from 10 countries attended the conference. Working as an assistant editor in many international journals, Prof. Dr. Bayramoğlu is the editor-in-chief of the journal " İSTATİSTİK, Journal of Turkish Statistical Association."
