The CSI Season 9 Türkiye Finals Witnessed Great Excitement !

The CSI Season 9 Türkiye Final Competition, organized by CSI Education, was held on Saturday, May 2, hosted by İTÜ Development Foundation Schools. Bringing together students from various cities across Türkiye around science, technology, analytical thinking, and teamwork, the event concluded with strong participation and great enthusiasm.

Representing İzmir University of Economics at the advisory board level, faculty members from the Department of Mathematics, Gözde Yazgı Tütüncü and Ayşe Beler, participated in the organization as members of the CSI Education Advisory Board. Serving also as Advisor to the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Gözde Yazgı Tütüncü delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the importance of fostering scientific thinking skills among young people.

The tournament attracted significant nationwide interest, with a total of 67 teams and 442 students from 51 different schools participating. Organized in two separate categories for middle school and high school students, the competition offered a comprehensive experience in which students could practically demonstrate their problem-solving, inquiry, analytical thinking, and teamwork skills.

Schools from various cities including İzmir, İstanbul, Ankara, Eskişehir, and Antalya took part in the tournament. The organization brought together students from different regions of Türkiye on a shared scientific platform, featuring institutions such as Bilim Yaşam Schools, TAKEV Schools, METU Development Foundation Schools, İTÜ Development Foundation Schools, Bahçeşehir College, Tevfik Fikret Schools, Uğur Schools, Eskişehir Çağdaş Schools, Marmara Educational Institutions, İstek Schools, ENKA Schools, Fen Bilimleri Schools, Maya Schools, Acı College, Darüşşafaka Educational Institutions, Okyanus Colleges, Yönder Schools, Çözüm College, and Güzelbahçe 60th Year Anatolian High School. This diversity contributed to bringing together students with different perspectives and strengthening interdisciplinary interaction.

Held face-to-face over the course of a full day, the tournament enabled students not only to apply their academic knowledge but also to improve their communication, strategic thinking, time management, and teamwork skills. Throughout the day, participants competed in different stages while also having the opportunity to exchange knowledge with their peers and interact with students from various schools.

Consisting of five main sections, the competition challenged students in Crime Scene Investigation, Interrogation, Laboratory, Cryptology, and Reporting stages. At each stage, students worked to solve mysteries using scientific methods, gaining hands-on experience in interdisciplinary thinking.

The winner of the high school category was Güzelbahçe 60th Year Anatolian High School. During the award ceremony held at the end of the day, awards were presented to the winning students by Prof. Dr. Gözde Yazgı Tütüncü and Dr. Ayşe Beler.

Encouraging scientific thinking, creativity, and collaboration, the organization stood out as an important platform that contributed to the academic and social development of young people while bringing together students from different cities and educational institutions around a common goal. The advisory-level contributions of the faculty members from İzmir University of Economics once again demonstrated the university’s strong support for scientific activities and the academic development of young generations.
